Birdlife Australia manages a national Atlas database for records of Australian birds.
Tamworth Birdwatchers Incorporated (TBW) has been contributing to this database for many years. In the past our Group Recorders have manually submitted our bird surveys on “the pink form”. Now our surveys can be easily entered electronically into the Birdata portal or smartphone App.
TBW has worked with Birdlife Australia to develop a Birdata polygon for our group. A polygon can be any shape. It defines the boundaries of the area in which TBW undertakes the majority of our bird surveys. The polygon assists our Group Recorder to analyse the TBW surveys, and other surveys, undertaken in our polygon. See Polygon map below.
Your sightings and the TBW survey records have great value. They contribute to the collective knowledge about Australian birds and contribute information that Birdlife Australia can use in their conservation projects.
